Emotions take on a kinetic quality in my work. Movement is implied with layers of energetic markmaking, roughly handled, delicately placed and ranging from deep darks to vibrant pastels. No matter the mark, what is important is that something is felt. When I draw, I am oftentimes distilling the feeling of overwhelm and what emerges over time is a representation of my emotional response in all of its complex movements. It's all a dance in the end between wanting to find stillness, crystallize the ineffable and acknowledging the transience of our internal states and overall existence.
